Debra
Rae was raised the daughter of an Army Colonel. As such, she
lived with her family throughout the United States and abroad.
Debra completed her primary grades in Japan and high school
in Memphis, Tennessee. Her higher education included, but was
not limited to, graduation with distinction from the University
of Iowa, followed by a Master of Education degree from the University
of Washington. Debra's passion remains deep study of the Bible.
She completed a four-year Bachelor of Theology degree, followed
by a Master of Ministries degree, from Pacific School of Theology.
Honors
include two teaching assistantships (undergraduate and graduate
levels), academic achievement awards, outstanding teacher distinction,
international distinguished service award, and "Who's Who"
mention.
Experiences
entail regular and special education in public and private sectors,
both as classroom teacher and administrator. Her work spans pre-school
through adult education. Debra taught at the American School of
Kuwait. One summer, she tutored the daughter of Kuwait's Head
of Parliament while serving as Superintendent of Kuwait's first
(perhaps only) Vacation Bible School.
Debra's
commitment to Christian education is demonstrated in many years
of hands-on ministry and, more recently, in active participation
as initiated Fellow, Seattle Pacific University. For several years,
Debra worked alongside her husband in the family business. She
has been invited as guest speaker to Christian and secular groups;
and she has served her local church and community in a number
of volunteer capacities.
While
living abroad, Debra traveled extensively. A notable adventure
included a three-month car trip from Kuwait to London. Having
married in 1989, Debra joined her husband in further exploration
of Africa, Asia, East- and West- Europe, North- and South- Americas
-- about seventy thousand miles their first year of marriage alone!
One trip featured a memorable jaunt on the elegant British
Concorde.
Released
in 1999, Debra Rae's first book, the ABCs of Globalism
(Huntington House Books, Lafayette, LA), has prompted numerous
radio interviews aired across the nation, the Western Hemisphere,
Russia, and the Middle East. The sequel, ABCs of Cultural-Isms,
takes a close look at religious-spiritual trends relating to postmodern
thought and global ideology.
Having
lost her husband in June of 2003, Debra busies herself with a
large, loving extended family and many valued friends. She calls
the Pacific Northwest home.
