Debra Rae's Book Club

I've always loved getting lost in a good book. From a young age, reading has been a true passion of mine. No matter where I am in my life or what I'm doing, I have always found time to read and explore new books and authors. Educational books, Sci-Fi paperbacks, inspiring biographies, love stories- any writing I can get my hands on, I will gladly take it all in. Luckily, through the magic of the world wide web I've been able to find other bibliophiles like myself- and start this online discussion forum. I call it my book club.

Biographies To Read That Aren’t Boring

June 18, 2017 By Catherine Powell

When a person hears the term biography they often think they are going to be bored out of their mind if they read this book. Not too many people want to read a book where the author does nothing but praise themselves and talk about how great someone’s life has been. This is not the case with all biographies. Depending on the life story some of them can be interesting and engaging. These are some biographies that are not boring to read.

Born Standing Up: A Comic’s Life

By Steve Martin

This book will have a person laughing out loud. It is not as easy to be a comic as most people think. Martin is a funny man and the way that this book is written will make a person laugh. There is a little bit of a serious side to this biography as well. Martin’s life was not always good. He did have to go through some tough times but in the end things did end up working out for him.

Cash: The Autobiography

By Johnny Cash

This book was written by the man in black himself. When a person reads it they will be touched. His life was not always easy. There are some things from his childhood that had a lasting impact. He also did some things in his life that many would look at with scorn. This is a very interesting read from a man that is one of a kind.

Jarhead: A Marine’s Chronicle of the Gulf War and Other Battles

By Anthony Swofford

This book gives the perspective of war from a Marine that fought in it. In addition to going to battle and dealing with life and death situations everyday this book tells of the psychological pressures that members of the armed forces face when they are at war.

Infamous Lady: The True Story of Countess Erzebet Bathory

By Kimberly L. Craft

This story tells of the first bloodthirsty woman. Looking at the story of Bathonry she had many people murdered and there were some accounts that she would drink their blood. This book talks about some proof of her crimes and accounts of what she did to some people during her time. The scary thing is many of the murders described in this book are true.

These are some of the most interesting biographies that a person should read. When looking for a good biography local celebrities as well as those known throughout the world have interesting lives. These books are well written and are well worth the read.
